In addition to aesthetic enhancement, it shows how finishing can also be made visible online in order to increase the attractiveness of books online. Both the technical background and practical examples will be presented.

Anyone attending Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024 is cordially invited to attend the workshop and find out about the latest trends in book finishing.

CPI eMotion wins Bastei Lübbe AG as partner for 3D visualizations of books

CPI eMotion wins Bastei Lübbe AG as partner for 3D visualizations of books

< Ulm, May 2024 > Bastei Lübbe AG has always attached great importance to special book designs and finishes. In order to highlight this clearly on the online store portals, the Cologne-based publishing house will be working with CPI eMotion in future.

The common goal is to display the best possible images of the publishing products on all digital sales channels in order to convey the haptic features of the books to customers virtually as well. “Image quality is extremely important to us as a publisher. Thanks to the automation, we now have the opportunity to guarantee the optimal presentation of each book on all channels,” explains Head of Sales Sandra Hermes. From now on, the visualization of a large number of novelties as well as numerous backlist titles will be implemented.

CPI's advanced 3D graphics software eMotion will be used to create high-resolution, appealing images of the publishing products. This technology allows a new visual dimension to be added to any book, from new releases to long-standing classics.

“With eMotion, we offer a technology that not only improves visualization, but also helps publishers market their books effectively in the digital space. This collaboration with Bastei Lübbe is an example of how technological innovations can change the book market in the long term,” says Robert Höllein, Head of Business Development at CPI.

Interested publishers can now contact CPI to find out more about the possibilities of this technology and how they can improve their online presence and customer interaction.

CPI commits to meeting ambitious climate targets

CPI commits to meeting ambitious climate targets

The printing group's CO2 emissions are to be reduced to zero by 2050.

As one of Europe's leading book printing companies, CPI has set itself ambitious targets to completely reduce its CO2 emissions. To achieve this, the Group has joined the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI) with its 15 production sites in five different European countries.

The SBTI is an association of several institutions that support companies in reducing their emissions on the basis of scientifically sound findings. The goal: to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement.

By participating in the program, CPI commits to setting its own reduction targets within two years. These will be validated and published by SBTI with an interim target by 2030 and a net zero target by 2050.

Chris Malley, CEO of the European CPI Group, announced the project at the London Book Fair: "We are proud to be one of the first companies in the industry to set and announce ambitious and science-based climate targets. This step at company level forms the basis for the implementation of all further measures at our sites and in our daily work. As an energy- and resource-intensive company, we place the highest value on open and transparent communication of our climate efforts to customers and business partners. In this way, we set standards for sustainability and environmental protection in book production that we will continue to be measured against in the future."
