We are pleased to announce the next stage of our visualization software: eMotion Version 3.93 is now available as an open beta. In this update, we have focused on further optimizing processes and refining the control of your book projects. Highlights at a glance: Ambient Occlusion: Experience a new dimension of image depth with even better shading at edges and in recesses. Extended user preferences: Now customize parameters such as book thickness and block spacing individually for each customer and product. Precise book display: With new controls for flaps, cover curvature, and improved page-turning animations, the virtual presentation is more lifelike than ever before. We are also working behind the scenes on massive performance optimizations and expanded material libraries (including for headbands and ribbon markers).
With eMotion Version 3.92 Beta, numerous new features are now available that further improve the design of book and packaging visualizations.
The new version expands the possibilities in the areas of book transformation, cover and book block design, shadow control (ambient occlusion), and the image editor. In addition, a new product for card packs and game boxes is now available with the packaging box.
A special focus is on:
- Variable book stacks and optimized book transformations (individual elements can be controlled)
- new finishes such as die cutting and hologram foil
- expanded options for book blocks, ribbon markers, and headbands
- optimized image cropping for a consistently centered book display
As this is a beta version, individual functions will be further expanded and refined in upcoming updates.
< Leck, December 2025 > The Kieler Nachrichten newspaper visited our site in Leck and provides exciting insights into the world of book production in a detailed article. The article shows from an external perspective the importance that CPI Clausen & Bosse continues to have for the German and European book industry.
The editorial team describes us as one of Germany's largest book printers. Around 60 to 65 million books leave the site every year – proof of the high level of production expertise that our teams deliver every day. Particular emphasis is placed on the many years of experience of our employees and the reliability with which demanding printing and finishing orders are carried out.
< Leck, April 2025 > The demand for finished books is growing - digital color cuts in particular are becoming increasingly popular with readers. To meet this trend, CPI Germany is once again expanding its capacities and putting two more machines into operation.
“The color cut is now a key factor in our production,” says Robert Höllein, Director Business Development at CPI Germany. “In particular, reprints of bestsellers that are needed quickly benefit from the increased capacity of this high-quality technology.”
The digital color cut opens up creative possibilities: From color gradients to intricate patterns and images, designs can be printed directly onto the book block - quickly, flexibly and in high quality. In harmony with the overall book design to increase sales.
Titles with a color cut increase visibility in retail and online and ensure sold-out editions - as with Rebecca Yarros' “Flammengeküsst” series: Even before the publication date in December 2023, the entire print run of around 200,000 copies was sold out (source: Börsenblatt, 10.11.2023).
CPI invests specifically in this success factor and supports publishers in implementing creative book ideas effectively, quickly and from a single source.
More variety. Better quality. Faster delivery.
CPI has expanded its production capabilities and commissioned a KBA Rapida 106-8+L at the CPI Moravia site. In addition to four-color content, the offset press also makes it possible to print covers and dust jackets with special colors in a single pass. Inline varnishing enables products to be finished with matt-gloss and silk-matt varnishes.
More variety. Better quality. Faster delivery.
< Erfurt, March 2025 > - Zeitfracht Medien and CPI are continuing to pursue their print-on-demand strategy. Thanks to a significant expansion of printing capacities and extensive technological investments at the Erfurt site, even more books can be obtained at any time and at short notice in the future.

CPI has a finishing workshop at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024. This will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 3:30 pm on Stage 4.0 in Hall 4.0.
Entitled “Specialty Sold”, the workshop offers exciting insights into the world of book finishing. Techniques such as color cutting, embossing, glitter or perfume give books a special aesthetic touch and make them real eye-catchers.
In addition to aesthetic enhancement, it shows how finishing can also be made visible online in order to increase the attractiveness of books online. Both the technical background and practical examples will be presented.
Anyone attending Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024 is cordially invited to attend the workshop and find out about the latest trends in book finishing.
CPI is right in the middle of the current book trend: books with colorful and patterned cut surfaces that are very popular on social media platforms such as TikTok.

We owe the increasing demand for these unique designs primarily to the BookTok community. Bookbinder Masumeh Omidi and her colleagues at Buchservice Vogler work tirelessly to deliver the desired quality and aesthetics. Thanks to the latest digital technology, we can decorate the book pages with a variety of motifs and thus meet the high expectations of our customers. This shows once again how innovative and adaptable we are at CPI, together with Buchservice Vogler. You can find the complete article here.
